Tricky Trials is a major update coming to Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.0 on June 13, 2024! This update brings new combat challenges, a variety of unique loot and a slew of new blocks and mobs.

Trial Chambers are a brand-new structure where players can engage in combat challenges that scale in difficulty with the number of players. Each trial chamber contains a mix of traps, combat spaces and rewards. Additionally, hallways and intersections connect each trial chamber, allowing players to discover more loot.

Along with the trial chambers, this update introduces a range of other features, including decor items like banners and pottery sherds; decorative blocks expanding the copper family; tuff variant blocks that can be chiseled; and 20 new paintings to decorate builds. It also includes a new melee weapon, the mace; a new crafting component, breeze rods; and a new enemy, the Bogged.

The update’s other main feature is the Vault, a new block debuting within the Trial Chambers. Opening a vault with a Trial Key unlocks exciting loot, such as equipment and high-level enchantment books. There are two types of vaults: standard and ominous. Ominous vaults have an additional challenge to overcome: players must find and drink an in-game “ominous bottle” in order to open them.
