Stocks moved higher this week despite September historically being the worst month for equities. Heading into the week the S&P had been up three weeks in a row and six of the past seven and it also came off last Friday’s Triple Witching (which, on MAC Desk, is not as impressive as the Yankees going 16 years without winning a championship). Energy was the strongest sector helped by a rebound in crude while Staples and Discretionary lagged. Next week is the home stretch with month and quarter-end as well as the government shutdown deadline on Tuesday night.
